The Regional Bureau of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Nutrition-Sensitive Agri-Food Systems Project funded by the Gates Foundation, organized a Regional Nutrition-Sensitive Agri-Food Systems Strengthening Workshop. The event brought together representatives from regional sector bureaus, academic and research institutions, United Nations agencies, and international and local non-governmental organizations to enhance collaboration and coordination on food and nutrition initiatives.
The workshop aimed to strengthen and broaden the scope of the existing Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture Forum by integrating recent food systems approaches and priorities, making it as Nutrition-Sensitive Agri-Food Systems (NSAAFS) Forum and to establish a new structure for the re-established forum.
In addition, the workshop served as a platform to familiarize stakeholders with recent food and nutrition strategies and policy directions. Presentations and discussions highlighted the importance of multi-sectoral engagement in improving food security, dietary diversity, and nutrition outcomes across the region.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships and enhancing coordinated action among government institutions, development partners, research organizations, and civil society actors. The workshop concluded with a shared understanding of the role of the re-established NSAAFS Forum in advancing nutrition-sensitive agri-food systems and supporting regional development goals.
